Overview

Gigantic Wonton, nestled in the heart of Boston’s Brighton neighborhood, lives up to its name in more ways than one. This cozy spot specializes in vibrant Hong Kong-style wontons that deliver both in size and flavor. Located at 170 Brighton Ave, the restaurant offers a taste experience deeply rooted in authentic Cantonese tradition, drawing in those who appreciate hand-crafted dumplings and rich, comforting broths.

The standout here is unmistakably the wontons. Whether served in noodle soup or as spicy bites, these dumplings are generously filled—often bursting with juicy shrimp—and boast a perfect marriage of delicate wrappers and savory fillings. Reviewers frequently praise the classic Wonton Noodle Soup and the spicy variants for their satisfying depth, freshness, and balanced seasoning, making them a must-try for any dumpling enthusiast. For those looking to branch out, selections like the braised beef dishes and pork Xiao Long Baos also show promise, though experiences vary slightly, especially with noodle quality.

Beyond wontons, the menu delivers a wide array of Hong Kong inspired dishes—the Beef Soup, Wagyu Curry, and unique Boat Noodles provide options for diners wanting to explore more flavors of the region. The dessert offerings such as Green Tea Sesame Balls and Cheese Pumpkin Cake offer a sweet finish that complements the meals well. Refreshing beverages, especially the Hong Kong style milk teas and lemon-infused drinks, round out the experience, adding a nostalgic touch reminiscent of local tea houses.

The space at Gigantic Wonton is intimate and unpretentious, reflecting the charm of a mom-and-pop eatery. While seating is limited, its brisk take-out trade suggests a loyal clientele seeking quality over quantity. This environment creates a relaxed atmosphere where the focus remains firmly on food that comforts and delights without fuss.

Targeting lovers of authentic Asian cuisine, especially those fond of Hong Kong’s culinary heritage, Gigantic Wonton caters well to both casual diners craving a quick, satisfying meal and foodies eager for genuine flavors. The combination of big, flavorful wontons and a concise yet thoughtfully curated menu makes it a standout in Boston’s diverse food landscape. Whether visiting for a comforting bowl of wonton soup or exploring their broad noodle options, guests can expect a genuine taste of Hong Kong’s street food culture, delivered with care and consistent quality.

This place was absolutely fantastic! The food came out very quick and was the perfect temperature and was DELICIOUS! Not to mention it is very affordable. We really enjoyed the spicy wontons, the pork soup dumplings, and the chicken and chive dumplings. Will definitely come back.

Solid wontons, but everything else just okay. So obviously, the best things I’ve had from this place were wontons. Both the pork and shrimp towns and the spicy pork & crab wontons were juicy and comforting. I slightly preferred the chili oil kick from the latter, but the regular wontons in soup were also excellent. But once I wandered off the wonton path, it got shakier. I tried the braised beef stew over noodles and the same stew over rice, plus the garlic wings. The beef itself was tender and flavorful, and the rice version I had in-store was quite good. The noodle version, though, was bad. Not because of the beef or broth, but because the noodles had a faint ammonia smell, so we ended up tossing it. The garlic wings were decent, if a bit too salty. Since the soup that came with the wontons was mild, it worked fine, but on their own, probably a bit overwhelming.

I ordered braised beef rice and wonton soup with 3 different fillings. The beef was soft and tender and the wonton is delicious!

The wontons are gigantic and truly lived up to its name. I ordered the wonton soup (without noodles) and could barely finish all of them. Each wonton had at least three pieces of shrimp on them and there was a total of 6 pieces. The flavor is authentic and reminded me of HK wontons! We also ordered the pork Xiao long baos to share. While I'm biased with a preference for wontons over all dumplings, I thought that the Xiao long baos were pretty good too. The restaurant only has a couple of tables, but there were many take-out orders, so we were easily able to find a seat on a Friday night. Very cozy Mom and pop vibes. Would definitely come back if I'm craving HK wontons!

Their food was very good! Really lived up to the name gigantic wonton. I loved it so much. We both got soup and they were delicious. Maybe it’s my reference but I prefer having soy sauce on the table as condiments without having to ask for it specifically. But their food is good and authentic! Give it a try! Service was ok, wait time is a bit long and they got my order wrong, but he quickly fixed it so it’s fine.

Their wonton noodle soup is pretty authentic and is one of my favorite things to order! They also have other types of noodles to choose from and they're all fresh and authentic as well. Some of their other dishes aren't as perfect but overall their food is on par with what you can get from Chinatown.
